Yes. Self identifying as a free-rider always seemed such a posture, satisfying the tribal instinct (to both belong and feel distinct) only until it was co-opted and popularized by the mainstream. Now it's just a marketing term, with meaning only to those too young and/or unsophisticated enough to have no problem with being exploited.

It wasn't a slope-style contest, and tricks were not a judged category. Sure Zink showed a maniacal desire to win, but it was still just one big trick. Claw rode an incredibly technical line, but was sloppy and slow. If the judges applied their own criteria objectively, Gee's fast, flowing, technical, ballsy run would have won. Awesome entertainment, but the commentators sucked - I'd like some technical background and analysis mixed in with my hype. About Us
